Leadership Development: Leading with Impact and Purpose!

This month, join GAASHRRM in an interactive leadership development workshop, led by Dana Wood, designed to support HR initiatives by equipping both emerging and established leaders with the skills, tools, and mindset needed to grow within the organization. Through a blend of personal storytelling, practical frameworks, and collaborative exercises, participants will explore what effective leadership truly looks like and how to cultivate it in themselves and their teams.

Dana draws on her own leadership journey to share relatable, real-world insights that make the content both inspiring and actionable. Participants will also engage in a “Know Your Team” exercise and group discussions to deepen understanding and foster peer learning.

Dana Wood: A Leader's Journey
Dana Wood is a seasoned Human Resources professional with a deep passion for developing leaders and fostering engaging workplaces. Her career began at Gordon Food Service, where she oversaw a team of over 30 employees as a frontline supervisor in the corporate mailroom. This hands-on experience laid the foundation for her book, "From The Mailroom To The Boardroom And Everything In Between," a testament to her belief in the importance of every role within an organization.

At Gordon Food Service, Dana steadily progressed through various leadership roles, culminating in divisional and regional HR leadership positions. Her contributions were significant, including leading the HR efforts for new warehouse startups, mentoring emerging leaders, and supporting due diligence processes for a new business acquisition.

In 2020, Dana embarked on a new chapter, joining Envision Strategic Solutions as Executive V.P. of HR Strategies. In this role, she provided fractional HR services to a diverse clientele, specializing in developing leaders and enhancing employee engagement through innovative employee assessment methods.

Beyond her consulting work, Dana continues to share her expertise through writing. She has authored two books dedicated to leadership development, reflecting her commitment to empowering leaders at all levels.

Dana is an active member of SHRM and holds a BA in Business Administration from Davenport University. A resident of S.E. Michigan, she enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on the Detroit Lions, and indulging in her love for books and writing.
